Hyphens

Hyphens are used in compound adjectives and adjective/adverb/noun + participle combinations when they precede a noun:

e.g. 74-year-old father-of-two Tom Jones

No hyphens when adjectives follow noun:

e.g. Tom Jones is 74 years old and a father of two
