Launching Ooona

Ooona is accessed through the Community Portal. Below is a step-by-step guide to launching a captioning or transcription task in Ooona. A video tutorial can be found here.

Please note if you take a break from a task you are working on, you can follow this same process to relaunch your task in Ooona to continue captioning or transcribing.

  1. Before you get started, make sure you have pop-ups enabled in your browser. Claim an available task on the Portal by clicking ‘Start’

  1. On the task detail page, click ‘Launch Ooona’ to open the appropriate Ooona tool in a new window.

It may take a few seconds to launch. Don’t forget to check the task detail page for instructions and your due date.

Amara users only: If you have an Amara account, you will also have the option to launch in Amara. The Amara workflow will not change.

  1. The media will load in the appropriate Ooona tool, along with the automatically generated text (ASR file). If you do not wish to use the automatically generated text, you can clear the subtitles.
Now you’re ready to start work!
