Sometimes we receive orders that are audio files and have no video.
These are converted into video for captioning and can be identified with the ‘AUDIO TRACK ONLY’ message on the video.
Many of these files will be university lectures. Pay attention to special instructions if present.
Please caption these jobs the same as you would if they were video files.
When captioning these files, follow the Speaker Labeling Style as outlined in the Style Guide.
- Don’t use [Voiceover] speaker tags for this kind of work. [Voiceover] is used for films and other broadcast media when there is an off-screen narrator.
- If it is unclear who is speaking, it is acceptable to use dashes for a speaker change or generic speaker tags, like:
– [Man] or – [Student]
