Transcribing captions

This article is for transcribing captions in Ooona from scratch. It is important to note that all tasks on the Community Portal come pre-loaded with an ASR document. To learn more about ASR, please see our video on editing ASR in Ooona and our page on deleting support documents.

Step by step

Below is a step-by-step guide to creating captions in Ooona. A video demo of this process can be viewed in our tutorials.

  1. First, make sure you’re in Work Mode with Video Follows Subtitle disabled

  1. Press Tab to play the video until you hear the first audio that needs transcribing
  2. Click into the first caption block in the Subtitle Table and type what you hear

  1. When the caption block is full, the speaker changes or there is a pause in captionable audio, press ctrl+Enter to create a new caption
  • You’ll see Ooona automatically jumps down into this new block so you can continue typing

Repeat steps 2-5 until your video is transcribed.

Now you will need to time your caption blocks. A guide for this workflow can be found here.
